Sciatica ~ Exercises for Relief and Wellness!

Two weeks ago, I had a funny little tweak in my back. Nothing I haven't had before. And in the past, it would disappear in a day or two. However, a couple months ago I had jammed my tail bone and then life dealt me some serious stress and extra work. Neglecting myself, I dug into the work and did some heavy lifting, when I KNEW better!!! The consequence; a sore lower back. Still no problem right? 

WRONG!!


 It became a HUGE problem. I couldn't just rest and treat it. It became even more aggravated and I didn't stop aggravating it until my left leg became involved. The red hot, shooting pain in my back was radiating down my left left, all the way to my foot. It was excruciating! The flexibility and mobility of my leg was also inhibited. It was keeping me from sleeping! After a Google search it seemed I was experiencing 'sciatica'.

The sciatic nerve runs across the buttock and down the back of the legs (the entire length of the hamstrings to the toes). When sciatic nerve pain acts up, the nerve becomes inflamed due to an injury (a slipped disc, pinched nerve, pressure due to pregnancy, or poor posture, etc). Below is an excellent video explaining the spine anatomy. 

I'm a natural remedies advocate, so I began another Google search. I found a plethora of fantastic videos for initiating treatment at home. After 3 days of consistent stretching and yoga with these videos, my pain has gone. Below are the resources that I used for my wellness!!
